Silicon carbide (SiC) is a compound semiconductor material containing silicon (Si) and carbon (C). SiC is a type of ceramic. With its superior mechanical properties, chemical stability, and heat resistance, it can exchange power at a higher efficiency with less heat generated compared with conventional semiconductors such as Si. Its demand is expected to grow as a next-generation power semiconductor material replacing silicon.
